MINISTRY OF PUBLIC ORDER
The General Secretary of the Ministry of Public Order, Mr. Leonidas Evaggelidis, met today (25-01-2006) in his office with the Special Representative of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Mrs. Helga Konrad, to discuss issues related to trafficking.
The meeting focused on how to deal with trafficking in our country and on how to best treat victims either of sexual abuse or slavery.
This meeting was held in the context of a series of meetings that Mrs. Konrad has been having in our country since Monday (23-1-06) with representatives of institutions taking part in the fight against trafficking.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe is active in the field of regional security in Europe. 55 countries participate in this Organization from continental Europe, the Caucasian region, Central Asia and South America. It cooperates with partners from the Mediterranean and Asia and brings Euro-Atlantic and Euro-Asian communities together. The Organization deals, among others, with issues related to preventive diplomacy, control of weapons, human rights, confidence-building and security measures, elections? monitoring as well as economic and environmental safety.
