Kostas Katsafados

Kostas Katsafados was born in 1979 in Piraeus.

His father, Giannis Katsafados, is a retired police officer from Lakko of Mani Laconia, and his mother, Poppy Katsafadou, is from Karpathos. His younger sister Mary is a graduate architect engineer and works in the private sector.

He is a graduate of economics studies at the University of Piraeus while holding a master’s degree in MBA Tourism Management studies from the University of Piraeus.

In 2002, at the age of 23, he was elected a Municipal Councilor in Keratsini Municipality. In 2006 he was elected Regional Councilor of Athens – Piraeus.

In the 2012 Parliamentary Elections, he was elected a member of Parliament to Piraeus & Islands. In the parliamentary elections of January 2015 and September 2015 he was elected 1st member of Parliament of Piraeus & Islands. In the elections of July 2019, he was re-elected 1st member of Parliament in Piraeus & Islands. In the parliamentary elections of May 2023 and June 2023 was re-elected 1st member of Parliament of Piraeus and Islands.

From January 2021 to May 21, 2023 he served as Deputy Minister of Shipping and Island Policy.

On 26 June 2023, by decision of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, was appointed Deputy Minister ofCitizen Protection.

He is married to Nora Michaloliakou and have a daughter Kaliopi-Anna.
